On Jimmy Kimmel last night he went off about the obsession with Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving Day where shoppers looking for great Christmas bargains go out of their minds and hit the stores and malls in the wee hours of the morning.
Some stores have decided to get a jump on their competitors by opening their doors late afternoon/early evening on Thanksgiving Day, which has somehow earned the sobriquet “Brown Thursday”.
Kimmel showed one newscaster after another saying the phrase Brown Thursday and then closed by saying something along the lines of “It's not Brown Thursday. It's Thanksgiving Day!”
