Thoughts On A Sunday

Winter is trying very hard to re-establish itself here in central New Hampshire. While we’ve had above freezing temps during the daytime, there has been some snow during a few of the evenings even though it didn’t amount to more than a couple of inches at best.

Seeing the storm that graced us with 3 feet of snow a week before Christmas, we were hoping that would be the pattern this winter would follow. Alas, it appears that storm was a outlier and not a harbinger of the winter to come. Goodness knows we could use a foot or so of snow right about now to help the ski areas and to get the snowmobile trails opened from border to border.

We could also use some well below freezing temps to get the lake frozen over shore to shore, something needed for some of the upcoming winter festivities like the annual Meredith Rotary Lake Winnipesaukee Ice Fishing Derby and the Winter Carnival on Alton Bay, just to name two.

Some words of wisdom from the Instaprof:

“15 years ago, the Internet was an escape from real life. Now real life is an escape from the Internet.”

Truer words have not been spoken any time in recent history.

I have seen some of the reports about the preparations being made in the state capitols for the “massive armed protests” the FBI has claimed are being planned in all 50 states. The MSM is making it sound like there will large scale armed rebellion and there will be blood flowing down the streets.

Wouldn’t it be a kick in the head to the FBI and the DNC-MSM if there were no incidents in any of the state capitols, that the very large protests were in no way insurrectionist, no way violent.

If the American people really want to freak out the new Socialist government and their organs, the protesters in all 50 state capitols should stand silently, unmoving, staring at the gathered law enforcement forces. No motion. No actions. No sound. Eerily silent.

Then when the protest is over, everyone silently turns and walks away, making sure to leave the protest grounds cleaner than when they arrived.

Do it Every. Single. Time.

Show them the Silent Majority is large, is watching them, is questioning everything they do, and if necessary, will act.

These protests would by no means unarmed. Everyone attending will decide for themselves whether or not to be armed. But be silent. Make The Powers That Be get the willies looking out over a city square or park and seeing hundreds, if not thousands of silent people staring at them. Make them nervous. Make sure they know they are being watched by people who do not share their morally bankrupt, corrupt, and willfully ignorant political ideology.

What are Nancy Pelosi’s real motives behind her second attempt at impeachment? Could it be that she wants to wear the crown, or perhaps be the power behind the crown? (There is something to be said for being a kingmaker rather than being on the throne itself.)

So why is someone supposedly so worried about the safety of our nation holding back the articles of impeachment instead of sending them to the Senate? The answer’s simple: politics.

It is the same answer to the earlier question of why the House wasn’t passing additional Covid-19 relief. Sen. Bernie Sanders “admitted that fellow Democrats, led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, were responsible for delaying urgently needed coronavirus relief by walking away from the White House’s offer of a $1.8 trillion coronavirus package.” Her hatred for Trump and everyone who supported him is so great she had no problem withholding much needed relief funds–and blaming the President for the delay.

So is it any surprise she’s playing fast and loose now?

Two days ago, she flexed her legislative power by refusing to forward the articles to the Senate even when senior Democrats urged her to do so. Her response? She’ll turn them over “when I’m ready.” Wow, that crown must look awfully good along side her designer masks. Perhaps it is also a little tight. What else explains her belief that she is the one in control of the country?

And why is her own party letting her get away with it?

As we get closer to Biden moving into the Oval Office, she seems to be digging in even firmer in an attempt to maintain control of Capitol Hill. Yesterday, she said it was “urgent” Trump be impeached but she continued to refuse to forward the articles to the Senate–or to say when she would do so. Her excuse? She claimed her priority is “ensuring the security of the Capitol and lawmakers before President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s inauguration on Wednesday.”

Wow, now she’s not only the wanna-be queen (or dictator), but a superhero as well who is going to hold back the ravening mobs of Trump supporters and protect her pal Joe.

Read the whole thing.

From the “If It Weren’t For Double Standards They’d Have No Standards At All” Department comes this reminder about what occurred about 4 years ago on the morning of Donald Trump’s inauguration.

As the FBI continues to arrest dozens of people allegedly involved in the Capitol Building riot earlier this month ahead of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration, it was just four years ago when similar rioting took place throughout Washington, D.C., as newly-inaugurated President Donald Trump began his term.

Only then, instead of right-wing protesters, it was a riot dominated by supporters of anarchist groups like Antifa and left-wing organizations including Black Lives Matter.

Video footage that was taken the morning of Trump’s inaugural shows black-clad mobs occupying streets, smashing storefront windows, attacking police officers, overturning trash cans, and generally causing mayhem in protest of what they perceived as a stolen election.

Reports at the time noted that more than 214 people were indicted on felony rioting charges.

“On the morning of January 20, protests over Donald Trump’s inauguration turned violent when black-clad ‘anti-fascist’ protesters smashed storefronts and bus stops, hammered out the windows of a limousine, and eventually launched rocks at a phalanx of police,” CNN reported Feb. 22, 2017.

--snip--

But in the end, not a single rioter who was arrested during Trump’s inauguration was actually tried or convicted; the U.S. government dropped all charges against the more than 214 people arrested that day, the Associated Press reported.

Does anyone think that should riots like that take place on the day of Biden’s inauguration that any of those arrested will see the charges against them being dropped? I certainly have my doubts.

I have to apologize for the heavy quoting in this week’s TOAS as I got in rather late last night from a family dinner at one of our favorite eateries. We try to do this as often as is practical, even during this whole Covid-19 kerfuffle. (Yes, all of the appropriate precautions were taken before, during, and after our dinner, just in case you’re wondering, Karen.)

I also have to get some ‘work’ work done before tomorrow morning, so time has been wanting today.

And that’s the news from Lake Winnipesaukee, where winter can’t seem to make up its mind, this weekend has been too short to get everything I’d hope to get done completed, and where once again Monday has returned all too soon. (I don’t have MLK Day off!)
